LADCP deployment checklist#
Adapted from document last edited September 2022 based on TrollTransect2022 cruise plan with inputs from J Lauber, L de Steur, Y Kern, and T Hattermann.
Before#
Connect LADCP to PC.
Know your COM-port.
Care about the pins.
Rename the
.log- and.rawfilename in the script according to the current station.E.g. change RN L001_ to RN L002_ in
[cruise_dir]/LADCP/Script File/single_beam.txt.
Start BBtalk software
Use version >3.09; version 3.01 behaves differently.
Select Workhorse and the correct COM-post and click Next.
Set:
Baud Rateto9600ParitytoNoneStop Bitsto1Flow Controlto1Click “Next”
Tick
Error Checking For Script Files,Send CK On Baud Rate Change (CB Command), andWait For Prompt in Script File. Click FinishConnect to instrument by clicking the blue B in the menu.
Click
TransferandPC time to ADCPClick
FileandSend script fileand selectsingle_beam.txt. PressOK.Wait for script to run through (last command is
CS, followed by binary output).Check that ADCP is pinging.
Weak sound, but audible as a regular beeping with your ear close to the instrument.
Disconnect cable from LADCP

Put device into water
After#
Remove dummy plug and connect cable to LADCP.
Connect to instrument by clicking the blue B in the menu.
Type
cb811in command window and pressEnterto increase the baud rate for the download.Click
FileandRecover recorder.Select the directory to which you want to download the files. Clock
OK.Select the latest data file (end of list) and click
Ok.In the popping up window, click
Disable window output.Wait until the download is finished (typically ~15 min).
Type
cb411in command window and pressEnterto decrease the baud rate to talk to the instrument.Put LADCP to sleep by typing
czin the command window and pressingEnter.Secure new
.000-file on hard drive.Put cap on.
