Regular phytoplankton taxonomy

• Fill 200 ml measuring cylinder up to 190 ml mark directly from Niskin bottle and decant into brown plasticbottle.

• Phytoplankton samples are fixed with an aldehyde mixture:

  • RR Add 10ml of 20% hexamine-buffered Formaldehyde and 0.8 ml of 25% Glutaraldehyde to 190ml of sea water sample (to achieve a final concentration of 1% and 0.1% respectively).

• Samples are stored dark and cold (don’t freeze)
